Privacy Policy

Who You Follow ("the service") generates a personality reading from your YouTube subscriptions. This policy describes exactly what data we access, what we do with it, and what we never do.

What we access

When you sign in with Google and grant permission, we access your YouTube account in read-only mode via the official YouTube Data API, limited to:

• Your list of channel subscriptions.
• Public information about those channels: name, public description, and recent public video titles.

We do not access, and cannot access, your watch history, search history, private playlists, comments, messages, or anything you have not made public, beyond the subscription list itself.

What we do with it

• Your subscription list is sent, together with the public channel information above, to an AI language model (Anthropic's Claude, via the Anthropic API) to generate your reading. Anthropic does not train models on this API data.
• We store your reading and the derived result card so you can view and share them.
• We cache public channel-level data (channel descriptions, public video titles) because the same channels appear across many users. This cache contains no personal data.

What we never do

• We never post, modify, or write anything to your YouTube or Google account. The permission we request cannot do so.
• We never sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• We never make your subscription list public. Your share card contains only the generated reading text you choose to share, never the list itself.
• We never use your data to train AI models.

Retention and deletion

Your raw subscription data is retained only as long as needed to generate and store your reading. You can request deletion of everything we hold about you at any time by emailing privacy@whoyoufollow.app, and we will delete it within 30 days. Revoking the app's access from your Google account permissions page immediately ends our ability to read any further data.

Google API Services compliance

Who You Follow's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide the user-facing reading feature described above.
